Easy RV Storage Systems of Terrace are the receipients of the 2009 Technology Innovator Award at the annual Terrace & District Chamber of Commerce's Business Excellence Awards held on November 21, 2009 at the Best Western Terrace Inn.

Three local technology innovators have been nominated at the 2009 Terrace & District Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award's for the Technology Innovator Award (sponsored by NSIS for the third year).  Nominated are:

NSIS Receives $5,000 from Northern Savings Credit Union

OPPORTUNITIES FOR student to learn about science will increase thanks to a $5,000 cheque from the Northern Savings Credit Union.

The money was presented to Northwest Science and Innovation Society executive director Christine Slanz.

The donation was made during Credit Union Week by Northern savings which distributed cheques to various community organizations.

Business Plan BootCamp is Coming to Terrace and Smithers!

NSIS will be hosting a Business Plan BootCamp for entrepreneurs and small business owners on November 16&17 in Terrace, and November 19&20 in Smithers.

The purpose of this two-day hands-on business planning session is to guide learners through the process of researching and preparing their own business plans.  The session will highlight the importance of market research and provide the learner with a process for researching business ideas.

Pacific Northwest Participants at Canada-Wide Science Fair

Three talented young women comprised the team that represented the Pacific Northwest Region at the 2009 Canada-Wide Science Fair held in Winnipeg, Manitoba held May 10-17.  They are: Natasha Steenhof, a Grade 8 student at Bulkley Valley Christian School, Raelyn Kerbrat, a Grade 11 student at Smithers Secondary School, and Arctica Cunningham, a Grade 8 student at Smithers Secondary School.  Arctica Cunningham won the Bronze Medal - Earth & Environmental SCiences - Junior Division (sponsored by Petro-Canada), and as a Bron
