Quantum Leaps Conference 2011 - Terrace
Science and technology-related careers offer women many exciting opportunities and the Quantum Leaps Conference held on Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) - Terrace Campus showcased just that and more.
In physics and chemistry, a ‘Quantum Leap’ is the jump of an electron from one energy level to another within an atom. Similarly, the Quantum Leaps Conference provides a forum for young women in Grades 10, 11 and 12 to tap into the personal growth experiences of female professionals who have successful careers in science and technology. With a series of interactive panel discussions, as well as, a keynote speaker the participants will engage in discussions around career and post-secondary education options.
Hosted by UNBC in partnership with local non-profit, Northwest Science and Innovation Society (NSIS) and provincial non-profit the Society for Canadian Women in Science & Technology – ms. Infinity program (SCWIST), this free conference is a great opportunity for young women to connect, ask questions and get inspired for the future.
