About Roy Leahy:

Roy is a hands-on Marketing and Sales resource who rose through the ranks to become the head of Marketing and Sales for the most successful Telecommunications manufacturer in Canada.

Roy began his career as a sales engineer at Northern Telecom in the telecommunications industry.  He was the second marketer hired into the new Digital Switching Division, in Brampton, Ontario.  He rose through the ranks ultimately becoming the head of marketing and sales as the division’s revenues went from zero to just under $1 Billion. Roy went through the phases of “Crossing the Chasm”, as Nortel fought to introduce a product that totally revolutionized the highly competitive telecommunications market.  He and his associates dealt with living “Inside the Tornado”, as sales and revenues grew faster than the organization could handle.

Roy was responsible for product positioning, pricing strategy, competitive analysis, marketing communications, and competitive quotations for numerous products, both domestically and internationally.

He came to the West Coast to head up a joint venture in network management systems growing the company to over $100M in revenues domestically and internationally.

He then headed up a small start-up in the switched Ethernet PBX market.

Both companies were sold.

Vancouver-based, for the last 15 years Roy has worked as a consultant/coach with BC and Alberta companies of various sizes and product types, developing and implementing marketing plans and strategies. His company is Marketing Pilot, Vancouver, BC.

Roy is also a lead mentor working with start-ups through ACETECH and BCIC
