Science World Visits Terrace for the 5th Community Science Celebration!

For the fifth consecutive year, Science World visited Northwest BC on Saturday, October 3, 2009 with its special blend of science, excitement and fun! 

The popular Community Science Celebration, a community-based series of entertaining, engaging events that involve students and families, encourages people of all ages to see the positived impact that science, technology and innovation has on the region's economy and encourages students to see value in science studies and consider science and technology career options.

3rd Community Science Celebration a Resounding Success!

Last year, Northwest Community College presented a number of different science-based activities for kids and families including:

  • Teddy Bear Clinic (nursing students) 
  • Up, Up and Away (mathematics department)
  • Space Kids (chemistry department and Kiva Cafe)
  • Sunscreen (chemistry department)
  • Big Science for Little Hands (Early Childhood Education department and Science World)
  • Journey into Ocean Ecology (Ocean Ecology program, Prince Rupert) 
  • Tours of trades and technology classrooms
  • School of Exploration and Mining

Displays and activities were also featured by local businesses and organizations, including:

  • Ministry of Transportation and Highways
  • Terrace Origami Club
  • Pacific Northwest Regional Science Fair Project Winners 
  • Northwest Science & Innovation Society
  • Genome BC
