NSiS Sizzles with Science

Getting excited about Science is easy to do when you’re involved in wacky explorations. Northwest Science and Innovation is busy this summer teaching kids about discovery, learning and investigation all through the scientific method. Children aged 6-12 are invited to participate in one of the three camps hosted at the University of Northern British Columbia where during the week they will gain an enthusiasm for a variety of scientific fields such as biology, astronomy, chemistry and environmental science.

The first camp ran from July 12-16 and the children and staff had a blast. With exploding coke bottles and thrilling volcanic eruptions, the children understood that science can be messy. Bouncing eggs and learning the chemistry behind making ice kept the students busy, but there were also many games to be played and team challenges to be conquered.

Program staff and volunteers actively communicate the importance of science in daily life while providing positive role models to participants. If you are interested in signing up, we have space available the week of August 9-13 and the fee is $100. Contact NSiS at 250-638-0950 for more information.
